Here is some information summarized from frequently answered questions:
- Docking at the VOL Navy . . . The Queen Priscilla is available for overnight accommodations on UT football weekends but it must remain docked at Volunteer Landing Marina – just a short walking distance from the VOL Navy and Neyland Stadium.
- Cruise Options . . . If you are looking for a cruise on the Tennessee River, we recommend the services provided by Captain John Farmer and his beautiful 42 foot, 19-passenger, river cruise vessel – “Trace 1″. Captain Farmer operates his business from a nearby dock just a short walking distance from the marina. A cruise with Captain Farmer is the perfect complement to a stay aboard the Queen Priscilla.
- Lead Time . . . Guests interested in booking the Queen Priscilla for a UT football weekend are advised to do so well in advance of the football season. Many guests actually secure the vessel a full year in advance. Overnight stays during the rest of the year should be booked at least one week prior to arrival.
- Securing Your Reservation . . . A reservation is considered “secured” ONLY after a signed Rental Agreement has been received and at least ONE HALF of the total Rental Fee for the Rental Period has been paid. The remaining balance must be paid upon arrival. For football weekends, the balance must be paid at least 2 weeks prior to arrival. If the Renter arrives late (or not at all) for any reason, the Rental Fee will NOT be reduced and any previously paid rent will NOT be refunded.
- Damage Deposit . . . Upon arrival, a damage deposit may be required, especially on football weekends. Assuming there is no property damage or special cleaning required as a result of the stay, the deposit will be returned in full upon departure. The amount of the damage deposit varies depending on the length of stay and time of year.
- Payment Options . . . Payment may be made using a check, credit card or PayPal. If a check is used, please make it payable to: Tennessee Boat Rest | P.O. Box 2331 | Knoxville, TN 37901. If a credit card or PayPal is used, please add 3% to cover the service charge.
- Cancellation Policy . . . Once a reservation has been secured with a nonrefundable payment, the vessel will not be offered to anyone else for the reserved period. If for any reason a reservation must be cancelled, any prepaid payment will NOT be returned unless we are able to reserve the boat for another guest. As a practical matter, we do NOT maintain backup “waiting lists” for boats because we have never had a cancellation. So, if a cancellation is necessary (especially close to the arrival date) do NOT assume that payment will be returned.
- Check In/Check Out . . . Guests may check in any time after 2 pm on the day of arrival and check out any time before noon on the day of departure. If necessary, these times may be adjusted with prior approval. Once a reservation is secured, guests will be provided a special phone number to call to call the Host to ensure an efficient check in and check out process. Guests should alert the Host of their anticipated time of arrival at least 3 hours before they arrive.
- Non-Football Parking . . . Except on football weekends, guests who have reserved the Queen Priscilla may park in the parking lot shared by Volunteer Landing Marina and Ruth’s Chris Steak House located at 950 Volunteer Landing Lane. The designated marina parking spaces are located at the upper end of the parking lot – beyond the bridge. A special parking permit must be displayed on the dashboard in the driver’s side window. In the rare instance that a parking overflow situation exists, guests may be directed to other nearby parking lots.
- Football Parking . . . The designated marina parking spaces located at the upper end of the parking lot are NOT available to Guests for parking on football weekends. The best football weekend parking option we can suggest is paid parking at the nearby Coleman Heating & Air Conditioning parking lot located at 814 State Street. Guests can drop their gear at the marina, park their car in the Coleman parking lot, and make the leisurely stroll on foot back to the marina. As a special consideration, Prepaid Parking Passes ($10) may be purchased. They must, however, be purchased before Thursday the week of the game. To do so, the names of the people who will be parking their cars and payment must be submitted to the Host. Printed parking passes will be presented on the day of arrival. NO REFUNDS will be provided if parking passes are not used.
- Your Host . . . Upon arrival, a friendly Host provides assistance with delivering baggage to the boat and conducts a thorough orientation to familiarize Guests with everything they need to know about the vessel. The Host also reviews important information about the marina and provides assistance in completing the final necessary paperwork. The Host remains available throughout the stay to handle any other concerns the guest may have, including recommendations for recreation, dining & entertainment options. Upon check out, the Host is pleased to return the damage deposit following a quick inspection of the vessel, provided there is no property damage or special cleaning required.
- Courtesy . . . Guests who stay at the marina are required to abide by all marina rules and regulations, especially those that pertain to safety and personal conduct. The marina is the residence for a large community of people who welcome guests as long as they are courteous and do not interfere with their peaceful ambiance. Guests who do not abide by the marina rules and regulations will be evicted.
- Vessel Capacity . . . For safety considerations and legal reasons, the maximum occupancy on each vessel during the day or night must be strictly enforced.
- Sleeping Berths . . . The Queen Priscilla features two large shared sleeping areas. The number of sleeping berths (comfortable queen size airbeds) depends on the number of guests in the party. Pillows and linens are provided, though some guests prefer to bring their own pillows.
- What to Bring . . . Items typically provided on the Queen Priscilla are indicated with a check (√) mark in the list posted under the “Comforts” tab at this web site. Occasional exceptions may occur. Suggested items guests may consider bringing are indicated with an asterisk (∗).
- Cooking . . . There are an enormous number of dining options within walking distance of the marina. A selection of some of these establishments is listed under the “Dock & Dine” tab at our web site. Guests are also welcome to use cooking equipment provided on the boat. If a gas grill is used, it must be operated safely by an adult and must be cleaned afterward.
- NO Swimming . . .Absolutely NO SWIMMING, diving, or floating near the boat or ANYWHERE else at the marina is permitted.
